TRADITIONAL IRISH BREAKFAST

Description: A hearty breakfast consisting of bacon, sausages, black and white pudding, eggs, tomatoes, and sometimes baked beans or mushrooms.

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Cooking time: 30 minutes

Serving size: 4 servings

 

  • 8 rashers of Irish bacon
  • 8 Irish sausages
  • 4 black pudding slices
  • 4 white pudding slices
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 slices of Irish soda bread
  • Butter, for frying and serving
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of oil, then add the bacon and sausages. Cook the bacon until it is crispy and the sausages until they are browned on all sides. Make sure to turn the sausages frequently to ensure even cooking. Once cooked, transfer the bacon and sausages to a baking dish and keep them warm in the oven.
  3. In the same frying pan, cook the black pudding and white pudding until they are browned on all sides. Once cooked, transfer them to the baking dish with the bacon and sausages, and keep them warm in the oven.
  4. In the same frying pan, fry the eggs to your liking. Once cooked, transfer them to the baking dish with the other ingredients and keep them warm in the oven.
  5. While the eggs are cooking, toast the slices of Irish soda bread until they are golden brown. Spread butter on the toast.
  6. Once everything is cooked and warmed in the oven, arrange the bacon, sausages, black pudding, white pudding, and eggs on plates. Add a slice of toast on the side, and serve with butter, salt, and pepper to taste.
