IRISH WHISKEY CREAM SAUCE

Description: Irish Whiskey Cream Sauce is a rich and flavorful sauce that combines the smoothness of cream with the distinct, warming notes of Irish whiskey. Perfect for drizzling over steaks, chicken, or even roasted vegetables, this sauce adds a touch of elegance and a burst of flavor to any dish.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Serving Size: Makes approximately 1 cup of sauce (serves 4)

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup Irish whiskey
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Melt Butter: In a medium-sized skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. Sauté Shallot and Garlic: Add the chopped shallot and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until the shallot is soft and translucent.

  3. Add Whiskey: Carefully pour in the Irish whiskey. Allow it to cook for about 2-3 minutes, letting the alcohol evaporate and the flavors meld together.

  4. Incorporate Cream: Reduce the heat to low and slowly stir in the heavy cream. Let the mixture simmer gently, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes until it starts to thicken.

  5. Add Mustard and Seasoning: Stir in the Dijon mustard, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to reach your desired consistency.

  6. Serve: Once the sauce is thick and creamy, remove it from the heat. Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
