IRISH WHISKEY CAKE

Description: Irish whiskey cake is a rich and boozy dessert that is made with whiskey, fruit, and spices. It is perfect for serving after a big meal.

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Irish whiskey
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in three parts, alternating with the buttermilk, and mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the whiskey, raisins, and chopped walnuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Serve the Irish Whiskey Cake with a drizzle of whiskey glaze or a dollop of whipped cream.
