IRISH TEA CAKE

Description: Irish Tea Cake is a light, moist, and slightly sweet cake, traditionally enjoyed with a cup of tea. This cake is simple yet flavorful, often dusted with powdered sugar or served plain. It has a tender crumb and a delightful vanilla essence, making it a perfect treat for any time of the day.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)


Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Optional: Dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar before serving.
