IRISH SODA BREAD

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 45 minutes

Serving size: 8-10 slices

      1. Preheat your oven to 425ยฐF (218ยฐC) and lightly grease a baking sheet.
      2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix well.
      3. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Mix with a wooden spoon until a dough is formed.
      4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it briefly, just enough to shape it into a round loaf.
      5. Place the loaf onto the greased baking sheet and use a sharp knife to cut a deep cross into the top.
      6. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
      7. Remove from the oven and allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
