IRISH BANGERS AND MASH

Description: A classic Irish dish featuring sausages (bangers) served with creamy mashed potatoes. It’s hearty, comforting, and full of flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Irish banger sausages (or any preferred sausage variety)
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup milk or heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Gravy (optional)
  • Steamed vegetables (optional)
  •  

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the potato chunks. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
  2. While the potatoes are cooking, cook the sausages in a separate skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Set aside.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, milk or heavy cream, salt, and pepper.
  4. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. Adjust the consistency with more milk or cream if needed.
  5. Serve the mashed potatoes alongside the cooked sausages.
  6. Optional: Top the sausages with gravy and serve with steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
