BERRY CRUMBLE

Description: Berry Crumble is a comforting dessert that combines juicy, sweet-tart berries with a buttery, crunchy crumble topping. This dessert is easy to prepare and perfect for showcasing fresh or frozen berries. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a delicious treat.

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 4 cups mixed berries (e.g., strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch


For the Crumble Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed


Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the berries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss until the berries are evenly coated. Transfer the berry mixture to the prepared baking dish.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until the topping resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the berry mixture.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the berries are bubbling.

  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

 

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgent dessert!
