- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (such as peas, carrots, and corn)
- 1 cup beef or chicken broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef or lamb over medium heat, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the mixed vegetables, broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Stir well and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes until the vegetables are tender and the liquid has reduced slightly.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Spoon the mashed potatoes on top of the meat mixture and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the pie is heated through.
